Children Rescue (Fresno Rescue Mission - United States)

In December 2011, David Clark, Manager Engineering and Maintenance for CertainTeed in the United States, finally decided to present a project to the Saint-Gobain Foundation alongside the nonprofit Fresno Rescue Mission. The aim of the project was to refurbish an abandoned hotel in Fresno and convert it into a shelter for women and children from underprivileged backgrounds. The center was open to homeless women with children, women who been abused, addicts and former prison inmates. In the center, they underwent the “Rescue the children” program for 12 to 18 months in order to give them a chance to reintegrate society. The mothers are given professional training and psychological and social support.

The Saint-Gobain Foundation provided this project with US$50,000 funding. At the same time, CertainTeed materials were donated to the nonprofit to improve the center’s energy efficiency and comfort. As a result, 63 bedrooms were created along with the childminding center, computer room, swimming pool and playgrounds for the children

David Clark, the project leader, said at the time about his involvement: “It is really rewarding to be part of a project that gives hope to so many families.”
